Vicente Moreno: "A Point Is Not Enough; We Wanted to Win, and It’s Been Difficult for the Players to See Their Efforts Rewarded"

The Rojillo boss addressed the media following the draw at Leganés.

Osasuna head coach Vicente Moreno spoke to the media following his team's 1-1 draw against Leganés at Butarque Stadium.

"I'm left with a bad feeling because we came here to win," Moreno said. "We were aware of how important this match was. We played a solid game and created the conditions for a favorable result. But like often happens, when you have clear chances and don't put the game away, you risk letting the opponent back in — especially with a team like Leganés fighting for their lives. In the end, they threw everything forward, and you're vulnerable to plays like the one that looked like a penalty to me on the field."

"It's a shame because I think the boys played very well," he added. "They showed once again that they're desperate to get a win, but we combined our own mistakes with an offside call that, honestly, I'm still looking at the images and can't see how anyone would have the courage to call offside. It's disappointing."

Asked specifically about the disallowed goal for Lucas Torró due to an alleged offside by Rubén García, Moreno said, "We haven't had much luck with these kinds of decisions this season, but it is what it is. We've discussed it before and find ourselves in this situation again. But it doesn't help to dwell on it too much. Still, I insist — if we had finished the game and scored 2-0, we would have taken all three points. There's a lot at stake, and it sometimes feels like not everyone is playing for the same things, but we all have a lot on the line."

Finally, the Massanassa native reiterated, "We wanted to win. We have that ambition, and we're aware of everyone behind us — everyone at the club, the fans who came to support us on a Monday. The players put in so much effort and deserve a reward, but getting one has been hard. A draw isn't good enough. We wanted to win. We have no choice but to try to beat Girona in the next match. We know how tough LaLiga is and must keep fighting until the end."
