Osasuna Falls 3-0 to Barcelona at Lluís Companys

Club Atlético Osasuna (7-12-9, 33 points) lost 3-0 to FC Barcelona (20-3-5, 63 points) on Thursday night at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys. Early goals from forward Ferran Torres and midfielder Dani Olmo propelled Barça past an Osasuna side that struggled to create scoring opportunities against goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny. Forward Robert Lewandowski sealed the match on a counterattack as Los Rojillos attempted in vain to cut the deficit.

The game quickly turned into an uphill battle for the visitors. In the 10th minute, Torres capitalized on a well-worked team move to score the opening goal. Seven minutes later, the referee awarded Barcelona a penalty after goalkeeper Sergio Herrera collided with Olmo inside the box. Herrera initially saved Olmo’s shot, but midfielder Jon Moncayola, who had entered the area before the kick, cleared the rebound. Following a VAR review, the referee ordered a retake, and Olmo converted to make it 2-0. Vicente Moreno’s side struggled to respond and went into halftime without registering a significant threat on goal.

After the break, Moreno adjusted the team’s formation, and Osasuna gradually created a few chances. The best opportunities came from defender Jorge Herrando on a set piece and midfielder Moi Gómez following a counterattack, but neither was able to score. With less than 15 minutes remaining, Lewandowski finished off a counter to put the game out of reach.

Osasuna returns to action on Sunday, March 30, at San Mamés against Athletic Club in Week 29 of LaLiga EA Sports. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. CET (5:30 p.m. GMT/12:30 p.m. ET).
