Osasuna Falls to Getafe 2-1 at El Sadar

Forward Ante Budimir gave the lead to the Rojillos late in the first half, but a second-half brace by midfielder Ramón Terrats gave the three points to the Azulones.

Club Atlético Osasuna (7-12-8, 33 points) suffered a 2-1 defeat against Getafe (9-9-10, 36 points) at El Sadar on Sunday afternoon. The home side took the lead just before halftime with a goal from forward Ante Budimir, but the visitors staged a second-half comeback with two goals from midfielder Ramón Terrats.

In a tightly contested first half, Osasuna dominated possession and pushed forward in search of a goal. The team focused its attacks down the flanks, with dangerous crosses from defender Jesús Areso and forward Bryan Zaragoza, but the well-organized Getafe backline managed to clear the danger. The visitors, meanwhile, looked to threaten on quick counterattacks. Midfielder Rubén García and Zaragoza tested the Getafe goalkeeper with shots from outside the box. Still, the half's closest chance came for the visitors when Juanmi forced Sergio Herrera into a diving save. Just as the match seemed destined to reach halftime scoreless, midfielder Pablo Ibáñez delivered a precise through ball to Areso, who found Budimir unmarked in the box before being brought down. The referee awarded a penalty, and the Croatian striker converted to give Osasuna a 1-0 lead.

In the second half, Getafe made two substitutions, increased their attacking intent, and created more danger in front of goal. Defender Enzo Boyomo had to clear a shot off the line after goalkeeper Sergio Herrera parried a close-range effort. Moments later, Terrats equalized with a well-placed shot from the edge of the box. Osasuna responded quickly and brought in midfielder Aimar and defender Abel Bretones. The team once again linked up with Zaragoza to create chances. The No. 19 had two good opportunities, but one was blocked by the defense and the other saved by goalkeeper David Soria. Budimir also had a chance, but his header from a corner went wide. However, Getafe struck next, with Terrats finishing off a counterattack to make it 2-1. Osasuna continued to press forward, and substitute forward Raúl García nearly equalized with his first touch, but his shot went off-target.

In the final moments, Getafe was reduced to 10 men after midfielder Christantus Uche received a second yellow card. However, Osasuna also went down to 10 players when Zaragoza was forced off with an injury after all substitution windows had been used. In the closing minutes, Osasuna pushed for an equalizer, with forward Jose Arnaiz, Aimar, and Budimir all getting chances, but the tying goal never came.

Osasuna will not play an official match next week due to the FIFA international break. The team will return to action on Friday, March 28, at 9 p.m. against Athletic Club.
