Vicente Moreno: "We have to focus on giving our best"
The rojillo head coach addressed the media ahead of tomorrow's match against FC Barcelona
Osasuna head coach Vicente Moreno spoke to the media in a press conference ahead of the team's match against Barcelona on Saturday, March 8, at 9 p.m. at Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.
"We have to focus on giving our best," Moreno emphasized. "They have a very important match but are also fighting for the league title. For them, every game is important. These kinds of teams and players don't make distinctions—that's why they're at the top and perform at the level they do. Every three days, they go all out, whether they're facing the first-place team, the last-place team, or a mid-table side. They need to win, want to win, and are always ready to play. They keep going every three days, and the same players are constantly on the field. There may be some changes, but the core remains. So, we can't focus on anything else; we have to give our best and be at our highest level. If one or two players aren't at their best, that gives too much of an advantage to a team like Barcelona. That's where our focus needs to be," he explained.
Moreno added that Osasuna is approaching the match "naturally, as we always do, trying to prepare as best as we can, with the excitement of playing well rather than focusing on a specific result."
"In the end, what gives you a chance to earn points against teams like this is playing at your highest level and executing as best as you can. Even then, it's difficult. I remember that in the first half of the season, we were in a similar situation, on a good run. In fact, I think we were the first team to beat them in the league. Hardly anyone thought we had a chance, but we played a great game. Everyone was at their best, and in those key moments where they usually capitalize, they weren't as sharp, or things just lined up in our favor," he recalled.
"Our goal for this match should be the same—rather than focusing on individual players or a specific outcome, we need to concentrate on our performance as a team," Moreno concluded.
