Osasuna falls 1-0 on the road against RC Celta

A second-half penalty seals the game.

Club Atlético Osasuna (7-11-7, 32 points) fell 1-0 to Real Club Celta (9-5-11, 32 points) at Estadio Abanca Balaídos on Friday night. Forward Iago Aspas scored the game-winner in the second half from the penalty spot.

The Rojillos began the match in control, pressing forward and creating chances in the opposition’s box. Midfielder Lucas Torró and forwards Ante Budimir and Bryan Zaragoza had opportunities to open the scoring, but their attempts missed the target. Defenders Rubén Peña and Abel Bretones were instrumental in helping Osasuna attack down the flanks to connect with Budimir and Zaragoza. As the half progressed, Celta gained momentum and tested goalkeeper Sergio Herrera, who made two key saves.

In the second half, Celta continued to build pressure, but Herrera, a native of Miranda de Ebro, stood firm with two more saves. Osasuna attempted to regain control, but the referee awarded a penalty to the home side, which Aspas converted. In the final minutes, the Navarrese side pushed forward in search of an equalizer. Forward Jose Arnaiz and defender Enzo Boyomo came closest, but goalkeeper Vicente Guaita and the defense held them off.

Osasuna will return to El Sadar on Sunday, March 2, to face Valencia CF in Week 26 of LaLiga EA Sports. Kickoff is set for 9 p.m. CET (8 p.m. GMT, 3 p.m. ET).
