Osasuna falls 2-1 against Athletic Club at El Sadar

Los Rojillos took an early lead thanks to midfielder Lucas Torró, but the Bilbao side rallied to take the game

Osasuna fell 2-1 against Athletic Club at El Sadar on Saturday afternoon. Los Rojillos took the lead thanks to midfielder Lucas Torró, but forwards Gorka Guruzeta and Álex Berenguer scored for the Bilbao side to win the game.

Osasuna started the match with Torró firing a powerful shot from outside the box, but it went wide. Moments later, goalkeeper Sergio Herrera was put to the test and stopped a dangerous shot by forward Iñaki Williams. In the 25th minute, Torró found the ball and fired from a distance to take the lead. The Bilbao side answered back when Guruzeta headed a cross from Williams. As the half ended, goalkeeper Unai Simon stopped a shot from Aimar.

In the second half, Osasuna continued to use the flanks to create danger. However, Los Rojillos couldn’t find the target. In the 75th minute, Berenguer scored the game-winning goal. Osasuna tried to equalize the game with a shot by midfielder Pablo Ibáñez, but his shot barely missed the woodwork.

Following the holiday break, the Navarrese side will face C.D. Tenerife in the third round of the Copa del Rey on January 4.
