"We had to be at our best, and we weren't," assistant coach Dani Pendín

Osasuna assistant coach Dani Pendín addressed the media following the team's loss against Real Madrid. "When you visit a stadium like Santiago Bernbéu and face a team damaged by its last two losses, you have to be at your best, and we weren't. We were not confident, and against a team like this in transitions, and that presses you – which we talked about – but they can cause havoc. It stings on many levels for ourselves and the people who made the trip to Madrid to see us, and it is tough. After all, it was a crucial game for us, we know there is rivalry there is and the fans were excited about seeing us do a good game and it wasn't like that."
He highlighted the start of the match: "It was well-balanced. We were creating options, but I think we could have done more at the beginning, way more, the scale was tipping on that direction. Yes, we go into the break, losing 2-0. Real Madrid can do that, but we could have done more, and we didn't. In the second half, I believe the previous play to the third goal is a corner in our favor, and we let [forward] Vinicius Jr. run and end the game, or at least it felt like that. We thought if we scored the 2-1, we could be back in the game, but we didn't, and by the third goal, the game was out of reach."
Pendín regretted not "showing the level we had been showing recently, how we were performing because if we are fifth in the standings, it is for a reason. We have to shake it off. It was a misstep. It hurts because of the stage where it happened. We know we could have done better. Many people from Pamplona came out, and that hurts. Now we have the international break, a time to reset and be ready to face Villarreal."
