Osasuna finishes the 2023-24 season with a 2.8 million euro profit
According to the latest Audit, Osasuna finished the 2023-24 season with a 2.8 million euro profit after tax. This is the first time the Navarrese entity has finished the season in the green after two seasons ending in the red. The Audit will be presented at the next General Assembly on October 19.
Three factors have contributed to this positive result. Firstly, the turnover has seen a significant increase, reaching 71.2 million. Secondly, we have successfully reduced our expenses, especially regarding supplies. Lastly, the income from the departures of Chimy Ávila and Adama Boiro equaled 6 million euros. This collective effort has offset the 3.1 million in losses budgeted at the beginning of the season and turned it into a profit of 2.8 million, reassuring our stakeholders of our financial stability.
Osasuna exceeded 80 million in revenue last season, a record figure in the entity's history. Revenues from competitions have remained stable compared to the previous season, in record numbers due, on the one hand, to the 2022-23 Copa del Rey final, the Conference League playoff and the 2023-24 Spanish Super Cup. Income from memberships amounted to 6.7 million euros, television contributed 51.8 million euros and income from marketing and advertising amounted to 7.7 million euros.
As for expenses, the club reduced costs on supplies by nearly 2 million, personnel expenses by 0.2 million and amortizations by 0.4 million.
The net debt was 61.6 million euros in June 2023, 67.1 million euros in December 2023, and 62.5 million euros in June 2024. In other words, in the last 12 months, the debt increased by 900,000 euros, and nearly 15 million euros were received from the LaLiga Impulso (CVC). This means that, while receiving these funds, the club was able to eliminate almost 15 million euros in debt.
Bank debt was reduced by 66% last season and stood at 6 million euros as of June 30, the lowest figure in 22 years. This means Osasuna owes much less in the short term, strengthening the entity's finances. On the other hand, it means a considerable saving in financial expenses. The club will save 500,000 euros annually in economic costs in just two seasons as the LaLiga loan has lower interest rates than bank loans.
During the current season, the club has pending to receive the last 9 million euros of the LaLiga loan, which will increase the net debt. However, the entity will continue reducing bank indebtedness to a lower amount. In July 2025, the club will have just under 50 million in debt with LaLiga from the Impulso Plan, 2.8 million from three loans that come from 2003, 60,000 euros from the leasing of the El Sadar video scoreboard, and 90,000 from the loan requested from Rights & Media during the pandemic.
An 80-million-euro budget for the 24-25 season
As for the current season, the entity presents a balanced budget with a final profit of 54,000 euros. The revenue will reach 80.3 million euros, while expenses will be similar. Revenues already include the departure of David García in the summer market for 8.75 million euros to Al-Rayan of Qatar and the one million euros from the solidarity mechanism following the transfer of Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad to Arsenal. As a result, revenues will remain at around 80 million, although there will be no income from competitions other than LaLiga or the Copa del Rey this season.
Regarding expenses, 58% is accounted for by salaries, although a slightly lower amount has been budgeted than last season. Also included in the budget is the impact of the three additions made in the summer market: Bryan Zaragoza (on loan), Abel Bretones (2.8 million) and Enzo Boyomo (5 million).
The entity sent the economic documentation to the compromise members today so that they can analyze it with enough time before the Assembly celebration on October 19. In any case, the club has made available to all its members through its website the Annual Report for the 2023-2024 season, the Audit as of June 30, 2024, and the Economic Report, which contains a more understandable summary of the club's economic situation.
