Osasuna transfers defender David García to Al-Rayyan S.C.

The rojillo entity will receive €8.75 million, which can increase to €10 million depending on variables

Pamplona (Thursday, August 1, 2024) - Osasuna has agreed with Al-Rayyan Sports Club of Qatar to transfer David Garcia. The rojillo entity will receive an €8.75 million fee, which could exceed €10 million if the parties' sporting variables included in the agreement are fulfilled.

The Qatari club will initially pay €7.5 million and commit to pay an additional €500,000 at the end of the player's contract even if none of the variables included have been fulfilled. In addition, the player will pay the entity €750,000. These figures result in a guaranteed income of €8.75 million, to which can be added various sporting variables for success in the various competitions in which Al-Rayyan S. C. participates and which, if fulfilled in full, would raise the total amount to over €10 million, including the amount contributed by the player.

García joined the Osasuna Academy as a nine-year-old and made his first team debut in Segunda División in 2014, a challenging year for the club where he was crucial to helping save the team from being relegated to the third tier as he scored one of the two goals needed to save the division against Sabadell in the last game of the season. The following year, the defender helped the club be promoted to the top tier of Spanish football. During the winter transfer window of the 2017-18 season, he was sent on a short-term loan to Cultural y Deportivo Leonesa. Upon his return, he became a starter and crucial player for the team. The Ibero native has been pivotal in Osasuna's rise in the last 10 years - as the team has gone from falling into the abyss to reaching new heights. As captain of the team, he has led the team to the Copa del Rey final, a UEFA Conference League playoff and the Spanish Supercup. In 2023, he made his debut for the Spanish national team.

Osasuna thanks García for his years with the club and wishes him luck in this new challenge. The defender is currently in Qatar and will bid the fans farewell upon returning.
