Tajonar, among the subsites of the 2030 World Cup
Pamplona could host a campsite for a national team in the 2030 World Cup
Pamplona (Saturday, July 20, 2024) - The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has made public today the stadiums that will be included as candidates to host matches in Spain for the 2030 FIFA World Cup and the subsites. Among the selected subsites, which have finally been 45, is the Tajonar Sports Complex. The subsite venues will now undergo an evaluation process by FIFA, and afterward, the participating teams will decide on their venue. Once the dossier has been submitted, FIFA will confirm the joint bid of Morocco, Portugal and Spain at its General Assembly on December 11.
At a later stage, it will determine the venues that will be part of the championship organization in a definitive manner.
This means that Tajonar and Pamplona could host any 2030 World Cup participating teams in the World Cup in Spain, Portugal and Morocco, provided that any team decides to settle in the Navarrese capital. This would make Tajonar a base camp where a participating national team would stay during the competition and carry out its training sessions, with the possibility of hosting a friendly preparatory match. Los Rojillos' facilities will also be recently renovated by then, as the club plans to present this summer the project for the expansion of the current sports city of Tajonar, works that will begin to be carried out in 2025 and will be fully completed by the date of the World Cup. After the refurbishment, Tajonar will have more than 250,000 square meters of top-level sports facilities.
