Osasuna completes a 6.5 million euro payment for land in Tajonar in which they will expand its sports complex

The club has now recovered the 166,264 square meters of land it handed over to the Charted Community of Navarre in 2015

Pamplona (Wednesday, June 26, 2024) – Today, Club Atlético Osasuna made a 2 million euro payment to complete the payment on 166,264 square meters of land in Tajonar. The entity will use this land to build and expand its sports complex, the most significant reform in that land since its construction in 1982. This means that Osasuna is now the sole owner of that land and has fulfilled 100% of the payments.

On June 16, 2015, Osasuna had to hand over all its assets to the Charted Community of Navarre to settle part of the debt it owed to the Treasury Department. The Rojillo entity handed over El Sadar and its sports complex, valued at 32.2 million euros. With that, it managed to lower its debt with the Treasury, but there were still another 9.7 million to be settled, and 7.1 million more appeared in a subsequent inspection. The board chaired by Luis Sabalza paid all those amounts in 2017 after the club earned promotion to the top flight.

Now, the club has recovered 6.5 million of the 32 million in assets handed over in 2015 to the Charted Community of Navarre. 166,264 square meters lost in 2015 returned today to Osasuna's property. A very complex path that began after the brutal crisis of 2014 and the near disappearance of the entity has led it in record time, a decade, to initiate the repurchase of its assets.

The repurchase was agreed with the Charted Community in June 2022 for 6.5 million (7.8 million with VAT). Of these, the club made a 2.5 million plus 1.3 million VAT payment in June 2022 and another 2 million in June 2023, and today, the last payment of 2 million euros has been made, closing the transaction.

The club will announce the planned project to expand the Tajonar facilities in the coming weeks. The new buildings, stands, and fields will be built precisely on these 166,264 square meters acquired from the Charted Community of Navarre.
