Pamplona (Thursday, May 23, 2024) – Club Atlético Osasuna has re-signed midfielder Rubén García to a two-year contract, with an option for an additional year. The extension includes a LaLiga EA Sports buyout clause of 8,000,000€.

García, 30, has been a pivotal figure for Osasuna since his arrival ahead of the 2018-19 season. His impact was immediate, scoring seven goals and providing nine assists as the team clinched the Segunda División trophy and secured promotion to Primera División. The Joker's influence has been felt in every game he's played in red, amassing 218 appearances, 26 goals, and 27 assists.

In the current season, García has remained a reliable presence for Osasuna. He has started in 21 of his 35 games, including crucial matches in the Copa del Rey, UEFA Europa Conference League playoff, and Supercup. He kicked off the season on a high note, scoring the team's first goal in the 2-0 victory over RC Celta at Estadio Abanca Balaídos in Week 1 of LaLiga EA Sports.  

Last year, the Xàtvia native was crucial for the team's Copa del Rey final run. In the round of 16, García forced the penalties as he scored the equalizer in the second half of extra time against Real Betis, with Los Rojillos winning the shoot-out 4-2. The Navarrese side defeated Sevilla 2-1 in extra time in the quarterfinals, with the midfielder setting the assist in the match's opening goal.

Prior to joining Osasuna, García spent one year with Sporting Gijón, scoring eight goals for the Asturian team in Segunda División. The midfielder debuted with Levante in the 2012-13 season and spent five seasons with the club. In his first season with the Granotes, he played 44 games, of which 10 were in the UEFA Europa League and registered two assists in the continental tournament.
